Secularization is the process by which social life, culture, the education system, and state institutions are emancipated from the influence of religion, acquiring a secular character. Deriving from the Latin word «saecularis» (worldly, secular), this process entails the removal of religion from state administration and lawmaking, transforming it into a matter of personal human choice. Education and science begin to develop independently of religious dogmas, and historically, the majority of modern developed states were formed along this path.
